Eldar Knight #1 - Done

Warhammer 40k 40.000
Ulthwé Eldar Knight
I'm done with my first Eldar Knight.

I painted it with the same color scheme I used on the Ulthwé's Titan Revenant I painted in 2006.

The base's the same : urban war.

I partially varnished the head, to add some constrast.

Side view.

I had to use two left arms to be able to give the knight this position.

All the gems are painted, even the tiny ones.

I didn't paint many yellow parts, to keep a dark aspect.

Med Tour 2014

Every Med Tour starts with a fully loaded minis case. And what better case than the Apocalypse limited edition ?

I had a shock when I arrived at Perpignan. I had a 17°C when I leaved Savenay, and a 37°C, 10 hours later at Perpignan.

First players arrived friday, we took time to eat and discuss before playin'

First Day...

Med Tour is a two day meeting where we come to play at Warhammer 40,000 the Apocalypse way. And when you say Apocalyspe, you mean... Lords Of War !

Haridan's in town, and it's hungry !
Nothing can replace a Harridan's "Good morning !" smile when you arrive on your first day table. This very well painted organic flyer comes from an army named "My little Forest Animals". So cute...

The All new painted mini malediction strikes again ! Every unit of my 3k DA army, fresly painted, doesn't stay more than two rounds on the table !

Even the Land Raider, painted a long time ago, didn't escape this malediction !

The game was one of a kind: Nids everywhere, Terminators falling from the sky, and Chaos Gods laughing hard. Our Astartes and Mecanicum alliance couldn't resist the Great Devorer and Chaos Space Marines alliance.

To win or to loose, what's the matter ? We played, had a good time and took great pictures. An apocalypse game is made to see great armies have great battles on great tables.

The Med Tour is also having a BBQ with friends, to take time to discuss about our Holly Hobby and everything that happened during last year.

Second Day...

A croissant, a coffee and 'ere we go !.

This time, it's desparate times : we decided to have a mirror alliance on both sides. An astartes, a Nurgle Marine, a Khorne Marine and a Necron players will fight.

I decided to keep only one terminator squad in reserves and place all the other squads on the table.

Apocalypse isn't only a big fight. It's a wonderful huge fight with huge armies, huge Lords of War and themed armies.

You'll see a 7 Nurgle Chaos terminators squad and a Khorne demon possessed dreadnought fall from the sky... Right in the back of your previously decimated terminator squad !

An Apocalypse game allows players to create crazy armies. Like a Nurgle army based on the sacred number 7, or an all Forge World Mecanicum army.

All you need is time and motivation.

Med Tour 2014 - Preparation

I'm done with the Med Tour's apocalypse army preparation.

It all started with this :

Count 36 terminators to be painted, or refreshed. I won't keep the dread and paint a new one. The Land Raider will be the only one who won't give me any work.

It took me one full year to mount, paint and damage a 3k Dark Angels Deathwing Apocalypse army. It's based on Belial and a command squad, three squads counting ten terminators each, a venerable dreadnought and a Hellhammer.

Belial and it's command squad :

Hellhammer and Baneblade - Red Fury

I'm happy and proud to show you the Red Fury. It took me two complete month to paint it, but she's a beauty, isn't she ?

I magnetized the kit in order to be able to change the tank configuration. Hellhammer, Baneblade, with or without turrets.

And because I need to travel a long time to play an apocalypse game, she can be unmounted, armor plates included.

Deathwing command squad

Last squad for my 3k Dark Angels apocaypse army: Belial's command squad.

Full paint
Belial and its command squad.

This squad is the final step in a long time project, started in semtember 2013. All the bitz I needed to create this squad took me years to get.

Bases come from Dragon Forge Miniatures, shoulders pads from Scibor Miniatures and all the minis are based on the Deathwing knights squad box.

Belial's equipped with Canis Wolfborn's lightning claws and a Chaos Space Marines Terminator Lord cape. Its base was realised with a Gales Workshop Cities of death floor and a lion head I founded at Scibor Miniatures.

Dark Angels Venerable Dreadnought

I won my bet, the dreadnought was finished before the end of march.

This mini required much work, a venerable isn't a grunt which paint can be neglected.

First work : magnetise all the weapons and arm's shoulders.
Then incorporate the heavy flammer in the body.
Lastly, adapt the Deathwing banner on the top.
Second weapon : the assault cannon.

The Weathring is  more "worked" than on older models, like its base. I needed this mini to be more realistic and old than the others.

Small details make great difference, I added a parchment issued from the devastator kit on the engine rear block. And painted Dark Angels on it.

The banner's back carries the Doom Angels Chapter colorsBlack on top right, green on bottom left, and a red diagonal for separation.

[click on the picture to see it larger]
Last weapon : the twin linked laser cannon.

There too, both shoulders are the same.

The dreadnought's base a vanilla Games Workshop. I added bitz and sand to create an "urban fight" environment.

Xenos slayers squad

Finally ! I'm done with the second terminator squad, for my 3k Dark Angels army.

Xenos, come get some...
I'm proud of this squad. Clearly, they are made for the close combat. Five lightning claws terminators, two heavy flammers and three baseic termis.

The sergeant is equipped with lightning claws issued from the terminator Chaos HQ. And the ork head on its base is here to remind us how they got their name. Five terminators from this squad killed more than 40 orks during a game.

Med Tour (3)

When you are at the Med Tour, you'll have to prepare your eyes. There are so many cool minis it'll blow up your mind ! Here are some pics to give you a hint.

This is Redbreast, da Ruzz Bot based on an old Armorcast model.

Awesome conversion and painting work created an incredible piece of war.

Sadly, he's owner's a Bad Moon...
Knight Titan vs Old World creature.

Only Tzeench could have created such a fight.
Welcome to the Med Tour 2013 !

This year, we don't have one, but two Chaotic Reavers to spread fear and despair !
 Typical Med Tour picture :

Dark Angels Nephilim (bis)

The Nephilim was finished in february but didn't have any base.

This is what deadline are for : to give you enough motivation to finish the job !

This urban base, even not as impressive than the one I created for the Stormtalon, gives me ideas for the bases I need for my future titans.

Deathwing Knights

Deathwing knights are different from the other terminators units : they all wear a chasuble over their Armour. This fabric adds colour and distinguish them as "the" veterans among other veterans.

Deathwing Knights being assault terminators, I took the same colour scheme than for my first terminators assault squad, painted in 2010 (!).

Terminators Games workshop 40k
Repent for your sins !
These five first Knights will soon see five more terminators join them. This summer, I'll play a ten knights squad in an apocalypse game.

Deathwing Knights - WiP 4

Only slight progress made this week. I wasn't able to paint : I had to work buy night all the week. Good news are these : the knights will be ready for the Dakka next week-end !

28/04/2013

Deathwing Knights - WiP 1

No tile to loose, I must have a five Deathwing knights squad done before may 24th !

  One done, four to go...

Detail : I used Screaming Bell for the red metal.

13/04/2013

Dark Vengeance part. 1 : terminators - WiP 1

Back to basics with the Dark Vengeance box terminators. The Sergeant is the first to be painted, I need it for the Dakka 2013 tournament.

Figures are good quality, although one-piece cast slows down the painter's fervour. Had to deal with the extended edges and false hollows, but nothing too bad.

Another good surprise: the 'clone' terminator's weapons can be easely exchanged. But it will be for next week...

07/04/2013

Ravenwing squad

The Ravenwing squad I started last week is already completed. Painted for resale, it's painted in the Ravenwing's colors instead of the Doom Angels'. This is why the painting was very easy and fast.

Ravenwing squad - WiP 1

A quickly taken picture from the current Ravenwing squad.
Issued from the Dark Vengeance box, it's painted in the "right" colors. This squad's intended to integrate the Doom Angels for the time of a tournament. After, it is for sale.

It's good to have a speed painting session sometimes...

Land Raider Redeemer - WiP 2

Burn heretics, burn !

The LRR (Land Redeemer Raider) assembly, builded for the (future) Death Wing Knights is finished. The configuration is not the same one as on the first Land Raider. I wanted to give it an older aspect, more massive.

In order to facilitate transport (and disassembling), the turrets are magnetized. I added a plastic door inside,  then glued a 3mm magnet on each sideFor painting, the turrets are not stuck, as well as the Space Marine arms. It may be necessary to wait a bit to see it painted, I have other minis to paint for a tournament.

22/02/2013

Dark Angels Nephilim

Space marines, Games Workshop
I am pleased to present a fully painted Nephilim.

Even if it's a Dark Angels vehicule, it isn't painted in the Raven Wing colors.

I complied with the line set during the Doom Angels army creation : all components of this Dark Angels successor chapter are painted in Orkhide Shade.

Games Wrkshop, Space Marines
The configuration won't change : the "Mega-bolter Avenger" is very effective against infantry. Moreover, the missiles (S6) are too weak to hunt tanks; so forget the twin lasers.

The painting is damaged, like the other vehicles. The damage are lighter than on a tank, the Nephilim remains one - hum - flyer.

Dark Angels v6 test

Benefitting from one of the (too) rare WaterGun meetings where I can be present, I decided to test the all new Dark Angels v6. I started with a 1k points army, with an imposed topic. I was preparing the Warriors Tournament, which takes place in March 2013.
The topic is armoured column.

The list :
 - Techmarine
 - 5 terminators
 - 5 scouts (no sniper, all C&C equiped)
- 10 SM (ener. sword, flammer and multifusor)
- Nephilim
- Whirlwind
- Vindicator

I faced a Vanilla Space Marines list, centered on fast attack, Raven Guard themed.

First report: contrary to the vanilla, DA sergeants cannot take any teleportation beacon ! But that didn't stop me to try a very dangerous deep strike and succeed !

A DeathWing assault becomes terribly effective, especially since you decide when it will happen

This game enabled me to test Nephilim and to revise my 40k v6.

At first sight, the Avenger Méga-bolter is a good anti-infantry. And the Blacksword missiles are a (un)pleasant joke. S6 and AP4 for single use missiles. Are you kidding?
Had they been S7 and AP3, their presence had justified the Nephilim's exorbitant cost (180 pts).

Especially when you known that the Stormtalon cost culminates at 155 pts

In conclusion : The new DA are pleasant to play, even if their sergeants can't be equipped with a localization beacon (Da f*ck?).
Next army: 1500 points of pure DeathWing !
