WTF 2

  For the second time, the WTF (WaterGun Tournament Fever) took place in France. After a first edition I lived as painting judge, I play during this second edition. This tournament however started under the sign of the badluck: wake up late, no batteries in the camera and my back hurts like hell!

  First game against a Salamender army. Ironclads fall in the adversary lines, its scouts invade me by behind, its captain comes to seek me in the 12"… Big fight with 12 terminators, including the army chiefs. Thanks to the clawed terminators, I manage to gain the victory!

  Second game, my nemesis: tyranids. Le Vénérable is a player as pleasant as the one I met previously.

  The game goes on, and I can only note that I'm dominated by my adversary on every aspect: he knows his army and the few errors which I make have heavy consequences.

  A debrief with my adversary allows me to make the assessment and to learn much from it. Thank you Sir.

Third and last game of the day: Space Wolves. As a Dark Angel player by heart, I know that this will make be a fight!

  The Crusader Land Raider makes great job 12" around him. I badly managed this game, trying to preserve my Land Raider (what I did), to defend my objective while seeking to gain the central one. After all, I should have had a better use of the Ironclad and its drop-pod.

  The game finishes on a fifth poor turn, leaving both of us unsatisfied. I lose, but I learned much.

Fourth game, versus Maxaluk and its Salamenders. Imagine: the armies are 2nd and 3rd of painting, on a Games Workshop table with beautiful decorations. The dream.

  Our armies including the same Elite, we decide, for the fun, to make a big fight between the five terminators and librarian in terminator armor from each army. Taking our time, we grant ourselves a coffee break before coming back to this game.

  Note to all those which pressed us to play: the game was so beautiful it would have been a shame to press the rhythm and advance quicklier than as the Hooly Bolter music allows it…

  Despite the good atmosphere reigning at the table, we allow no mercy! In the fight between the assault terminators, having 2x3 attacks at Initiative 4 makes the difference. Note to self: mix your assault terminators with hammer-shielded and the claws.

  We gave the results sheets at the end of the fourth turn, after having estimated the results. Although without stake now, we came back to the game, just for pleasure! I made a full victory and had a pleasure that I hadn't for a long time. A huge thank to Maxaluk for this incredible game, revenge when you want!

  Fifth and last game, Mathieuuu and its Tyranids. The part is folded at the beginning of its third turn: I can't contain the small ones and the large ones aren't dead. I can't take it anymore, I grant the victory to my adversary and leave the battle field!

  I lended my army to Mathieuuu's comrade who will try to kill as much tytys as possible before succumbing under the number.

I finish 2nd in painting, with an enormous motivation for next year.

ACTA est fabula

  No minis this week. When I created this blog, I wanted to limit post to limit our Holly Hobby. but Europe has just signed ACTA.

ACTA: Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement

  When I read " commercial" in an international act, negotiated in secrecy by our governments, I'm really anxious. We didn't accept SOPA nor PIPA, dismissed with a large red foot print on the butt... And Big Brother is back again !

  9gag abounds in posts ridiculing SOPA, PIPA and aiming at mobilizing against ACTA, explaining to citizen what it really is about. If the US government moved back in front of the citizens' mobilization, we should make the same thing on a world level againts ACTA.

  Don't let mass-media talk sh*t: they arent' even able to check their sources! It is our duty to diffuse the following message (and adress): STOP ACTA. By all the means which our numerical century offers, spread this information and bonds available to denounce ACTA. and don't forget to sign the anti-ACTA petition.

WaterGun - January 20

   Meeting at WaterGun association on this Friday evening, to test our lists planned for the WTF 2 (WaterGun TOurnament Fever). We play a classical annihilation battle.

Hello, anybody in there?

   My adversary plays a daemons list, Nurgle monotheist. Having the initiative, the first turn is short: not  adversary.

The second round doesn't present much more interest: the large troops remain in reserve. Sections of Plague Bearers and Nurglings invade… the ruins. Only two Beasts of Nurgle get in combat position against my five scouts.

   The second round starts with… all the second part of the Nurgle army landing in the table!

  I must deal with two daemons Princes, a Soul Crusher and Great Immonde. The few losses wiped by shooting the units in the ruins don't compensate for this massive monstrous reinforcements arrival.

  Neron the Ironclad Dreadnought will charge the  Soul Crusher and fail at breaking it. Seems that I have more than one "one" face on my dices.

And they shall know ni fear...

  After the destruction of my all new Land raider Crusader, surviving Doom Angels heroically charge the daemon Prince. He will kill all the terminators with a little help from the and the Plague Bearers and their hero on palaquin.

  In conclusion, I would say that thougness 5 combined with the Feel No Pain rule, is a pain to the *ss. (it's ok, it's Nurgle)

How can this happen?

  To manage to pass from a 1800 to a 3000 points army, you'll need organization. It is necessary for you to start by drawing up a army list with all your available points. Then, grow it up to 3000pts and  see what must be painted and mut it in a painting planning over one year. Very important: never over-estimate your capacities and keep one month without painting. Real life always has surpises for you!

The Doom Angels army before the Challenge started:

  On first tought, I wanted to integrate them in the 3000pts army, but the Veterans visible in the forefront will not integrate the final army list. In addition to the many figurines to be painted (shown throughout year 2011), I had to paint minis for others, to move from an appartement to an house (with bg work to do) and pass a contest. So, it's not too difficult to respect the plannig...

  The Challenge was a motivation source unceasingly renewed. The variety of the units I had to paint to arrive at the fixed goal allowed me to test different techniques. Du to a lack of time,I didn't paint a Super Heavy but it's ready to be painted.

And now?

  After 2011 which was a great year for our Holly Hobby, 2012 announces to be more difficult. Ineed me to pass a big exam and complete large work in the house. Sadly, my minis production won't be as effective as last year.
